In class, we have started reading Leonardo's Horse and learning how to find important events and the details to go along with it. Students learned about sequencing and the adverbs of time which help writers to show the order of events. Examples of the adverbs include: then, while, later, in the past, hundreds of years ago and others. Students will be using the adverbs of time to write their own summary of the story, showing the events leading up to Leonardo's death.
Students had the chance to work with a partner to test how the simple machine, the incline plane, helps reduce the effort needed to lift an object. The students started with understanding the purpose of the experiment and developing their own hypothesis before testing. We are still working on the write up of the experiment to properly write a procedure, results and observations and explaining themselves in the conclusion section.
